Where do I go to submit an entry?
When you first log into your account , you'll see a "Start a new entry" form. Simply choose which category you want to enter, give your entry a title, and click the "Start" button. In the form that loads, you will find all the information you need in order to submit an entry to your selected category. You don't have to complete your entry all in one sitting. Your entry will auto-save while you work on it, and you can always come back to it later.
How do I create an account?
Click here to find the "create account" form. Fill in your name, contact information, and email and password, and you're set! When you sign up, you'll be logged in automatically and can start creating your entries right away.
Can I make changes to my entry after I've submitted it?
Yes, you can continue to edit your entries until the entry deadline, 11:59pm, March 26, 2026. After the entry deadline, you will be able to view your entries, but the editing controls will be disabled.
Do I need to be nominated to submit an entry?
No! Any Alberta business can apply—no nomination required!
How many award categories can I apply for?
You can apply in multiple award categories, however, you can only be a finalist in 1 award category.
How are finalists and winners selected?
Submissions are reviewed anonymously using Awardify Software, ensuring fairness and transparency. Judges evaluate entries based on set criteria without knowing the applicant's identity, and award recipients are selected unbiasedly. Learn more here.
Are financial statements required?
Yes. Financial statements are required as part of the eligibility review process to confirm that applicants represent actively operating businesses.
There is no minimum profit threshold, and financial statements are not used as part of the judging criteria.
Applicants do not need to submit detailed financial reports with every line item. A high-level income statement or financial summary showing overall revenue and expenses is sufficient, and sensitive line-item details may be redacted if necessary.

What type of financial statements should be submitted?
Applicants should submit their most recent annual financial statement. Interim financial statements may also be accepted if they reflect the most recent financial position of the business.
If your organization operates nationally or globally, financial statements may be submitted as they are normally filed. Where possible, applicants are encouraged to provide context related to Alberta operations, as the awards recognize business leadership and impact within the province.
Can I apply if I am a non-profit organization?
Yes, you can apply if you meet the other eligibility requirements. No more than 30% of annual revenue can be directly funded by government envelopes. Non-profits must submit evidence of funding via email to sknorr@abchamber.ca at the time of application to complete their application. (NOTE: this does not apply to regular procurement).
Is there a limit on the amount of government funding a non-profit can receive?
Yes. Non-profit organizations cannot receive more than 30% of their annual revenue from direct government funding programs or grants (also referred to as "Government envelopes"). However, this limit does not apply to revenue earned through government procurement contracts, such as payments for goods or services provided to the government.
How do I apply for Alberta's Best of Business Award of Distinction?
This category becomes available for application after completing a submission in another category. Log back into your Awardify account, select "Start New Entry," and Alberta's Best of Business will appear in the available categories. Note: Nominations are not accepted for this category.
Do I need any kind of special software to make my entries?
This awards system is entirely web-based. You can create your entries on your phone, iPad, laptop, or any computer. All you need is a browser.
How do you protect my information?
All application materials submitted through the awards platform are treated as confidential and used only for the administration of the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction.
Financial statements are reviewed only during the eligibility verification stage and are not shared with the judging panel.
The awards platform uses industry-leading encryption and secure data storage to protect applicant information.
